Upcoming Community Service Programs for Children
Birthday Banners & Cards for Kids (Grades 3 – 5)
Wednesday, July 22, 4:00–5:00 p.m.
Help us make cheerful birthday banners and cards for kids who are spending their birthdays in the hospital. It’s a thoughtful way to spread joy and help them celebrate. Participants will earn one hour of community service credit. Register here starting 7/15
Volunteer at Hobbs Farm (Bethel Hobbs Farm, Centereach) (Grades 3 – 5)
Wednesday, July 29, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Kids will help with various farm tasks such as weeding beds, planting seeds, and picking produce. Dress for a mess and for the weather! In the event of extreme weather, this program may be rescheduled or cancelled. Please note this program is off site and parents/caregivers (over the age of 18) must stay with their child at the farm. Encouragement Cards for Seniors (Grades 3 – 5)
Tuesday, August 4, 3:00–4:00 p.m.
Join us to make uplifting encouragement cards for seniors living in a nursing home. Participants will earn one hour of community service credit. Participants will earn one hour of community service credit. Register here starting 7/28.

Tote Bags for Supply Drives (Grades 3 – 5)
Wednesday, August 19, 4:00–5:00 p.m.
Join us for a fun and creative tote bag decorating session! Kids will get to design colorful, one-of-a-kind bags that will be used for library supply drives. It’s a great way to get crafty and give back to the community! Participants will earn one hour of community service credit. Register here starting 8/12
Candy Land Decorating (Grades 3 – 5)
Wednesday, September 16, 4:30–5:30 p.m.
Join us to make creative candy-themed decorations for our annual Candy Land event in the Children’s Library! Register here starting 9/2.
Sweet Treats for Our Heroes (Grades 3 – 5)
Wednesday, September 30, 4:30–5:30 p.m.
Kids will assemble decorated candy bags filled with treats and sealed with heartfelt appreciation messages for deployed service members and veterans. Come share your creativity, spread kindness, and make a difference – one sweet treat at a time! Register here starting 9/16.
Great Give Back: Dog or Cat Toy “Take & Make”
Create a dog or cat toy at home while earning 1 hour of community service credit.
Click here to reserve your Cat Kit starting 10/1 OR Click here to reserve your Dog Kit starting 10/1. Then come and pick it up! Return it to the Children’s Library by Saturday, October 17, and we’ll donate them to a local animal shelter. One dog or cat kit per child, please.
Great Give Back: Dog Treat Jars for Pet Supply Drive (Grades 3 – 5)
Wednesday, October 7, 4:30–5:30 p.m.
Come get crafty with us as we decorate treat jars for our furry friends – these “pawsome” creations will be donated to our Pet Supply Drive! Register here starting 9/23.
